The NeoGen Titanium-Reinforced Membrane consists of three layers. The outer PTFE layer is soft-tissue-friendly and nearly impermeable to bacteria; the middle layer comprises durable and easily moldable titanium mesh; and the inner PTFE layer features an expanded texture that allows predictable integration with hard tissue. Together, these layers form an easy-to-handle membrane that provides reliable protection at the augmentation site.
Soft-Tissue Side:
The soft-tissue side has a dense texture that interacts with soft tissue, stabilizing the membrane. It also acts as a barrier to reduce the risk of infection.
Titanium Mesh:
The titanium mesh offers strong, moldable reinforcement, maintaining its shape throughout the healing phase.
Hard-Tissue Side:
The hard-tissue side features an expanded texture that promotes predictable integration with hard tissue. This, combined with the rigid mesh configuration, enables complete bone regeneration.
Application Area:
NeoGen Titanium-Reinforced Membranes are surgically placed under the oral mucosa to enhance the regenerative healing of bone defects. They prevent soft tissue from infiltrating the defect and create space for complete bone regeneration. These membranes are particularly suited for larger defects where a rigid membrane is needed to protect against external mechanical forces or form a scaffold for bone growth. Examples include vertical ridge augmentations and large buccal defects.
Material:
- Membrane: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
- Mesh: Commercially pure titanium
- Thickness: 0.25 mm
Deformation Resistance:
The mesh reinforcement enhances the membrane's resistance to external forces during healing.
Texture:
The different textures and porosities of NeoGen membranes result from variations in the nodes and fibrils within the PTFE material matrix.
Packaging:
NeoGen membranes, with or without titanium reinforcement, are delivered sterile and double-packed (box and foil). The contents inside the foil are sterile, and the membranes cannot be re-sterilized after use.
Membrane Orientation:
The soft-tissue side (facing outward) is marked with the word "UP," cut from the titanium mesh. This side is placed upwards in the packaging.
